The new, improved Joint Accreditation Program and Activity Reporting System (JA-PARS) is now live. Reflecting feedback from providers and other stakeholders, JA-PARS features a modernized, user-friendly, streamlined interface for activity and learner reporting.
Log in to JA-PARS as you usually do, with the same credentials, and click on JA-PARS to see the new interface and features. New to JA-PARS? View our quick start guide here.
See below for frequently asked questions, key features, activity submission resources, and more.

Key Features: Activity Reporting
This tutorial is designed to guide accredited providers through the process of registering their CE activities into JA-PARS. Please note, although the document focuses on PARS, you'll see the same functionality and features in JA-PARS. Resources for submitting activities, including information on submitting activity data via tab-delimited batch upload, XML batch upload, and web services, are available here.
- We've removed the fields for reporting year, hours of instruction, competencies, and type of in-kind support.
- There are now four activity statuses. Learn more here.
- We streamlined the names of activity formats (formerly called activity types).
- If you offer repeat activities (activities with the same content offered more than once), you only need to enter the activity once, specifying the date and location for each instance, and JA-PARS will automatically create individual activity entries.
- You only need to report an enduring material once for the duration of time that it will be available, up to a maximum of three years.
- You now need to enter the end date for each activity.
- You will need to enter a brief description of each of your activities, such as the abstract, content outline, or learning objectives. This data will support research and enhance search options in CME Passport.
- We modified the evaluation questions to better align with outcomes models that are used in research.
- You can tag activities by commendation criteria for your internal tracking, supporting your efforts to achieve Joint Accreditation with Commendation.
- You can identify interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) activities, as well as any of the credit types included in Joint Accreditation.
- You will have the option to display any of your activities offering AMA PRA Category 1™ or IPCE credit in CME Passport, not only those that are registered for MOC, MIPS, and REMS.
- You can search for an activity that offers pharmacy credit using the Universal Activity Number (UAN), and to identify if the activity is a part of a pharmacy certificate program; if so, you will receive a link to continue the process outside of JA-PARS after you save the activity.
Reporting Physician-Learner Data
For those of you offering AMA PRA Category 1™ credit, the new JA-PARS offers these improvements:
- You have the option to enter, track, and manage physicians' CME completion data for any of your activities, using manual entry, batch upload, or web services.
- You can report CME and MOC/Continuing Certification participation in the same record, and we've reduced data entry in the web form.
- Data entry via the web form: For most physician learners, you'll only need to enter their first and last name, month and day of birth (not year), and state of licensure to make a match.
- We've created a learner matching application programming interface (API), enabling you to pre-validate learner-identification data prior to entering information about participation in CME and MOC/Continuing Certification, reducing rejections. This tool can be used manually, via batch upload, or web services.
- Physicians will be able to quickly search by activity format, date, types of credit offered, and topic.
For more resources on submitting learner data via tab-delimited batch upload, XML batch upload, and web services, visit the JA-PARS Learner Reporting Resources webpage.
CME Passport
The new CME Passport, formerly CME Finder, displays any activities offering AMA PRA Category 1™ or IPCE credit that you choose to include, with expanded search functions. Physicians can create a personalized account to track, manage, and generate transcripts of their reported CME. Learn more here.
JA-PARS Migration Methods
When migrating your data into new JA-PARS, we completed the following:
- Inserted the activity title into the description field, if you did not include a description.
- Updated names for activity formats (formally called activity types).
- Assigned end dates for activities that did not include them.
- Mapped the previous evaluation questions to the new ones.
- Chose “yes” to include your activity in CME Passport if it was registered for MOC, REMS, or MIPS. All other activities have been defaulted to “no” and will not be displayed in CME Passport.
More details are available here.
JA-PARS Release Notes
Click here to access a brief summary of JA-PARS enhancements. Please note that because JA-PARS is an online application, JA-PARS enhancements are available immediately to all users; no downloads or updates are required.
Annual Reporting
Joint Accreditation uses the information collected in JA-PARS to support reviews that are part of the process for reaccreditation and progress report reviews. In addition, Joint Accreditation uses data from JA-PARS to produce reports as a service to jointly accredited providers and other stakeholders. Learn more about your annual reporting responsibility, including resources to fulfill this requirement here.
