REGISTER FOR THE LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

You are invited to attend the 2019 Joint Accreditation Leadership Summit, Let’s Go Team! Planning Education for Maximum Impact! on September 20, 2019 from 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM at the ACCME’s office in Chicago.

The fifth annual Joint Accreditation Leadership Summit will bring together leaders in interprofessional education and jointly accredited providers to explore educational methodology that demonstrates excellence in identifying professional practice gaps of teams, choosing formats for learning that will be most effective for the team, facilitating planning processes that highlight the roles of team members, and evaluating changes in the team. The nuts and bolts of planning and evaluation will be explored across different types of activities and different learning environments.

Please join us for a reception the evening of September 19 in honor of our colleague, Peter Vlasses, PharmD, DSc (Hon), FCCP, on his distinguished career as Executive Director of Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

NOW OPEN: RFA FOR OPIOID ANALGESICS REMS GRANTS

The 2019 Request for Application (RFA) for Opioid Analgesics Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategy (OA REMS) educational grants is now open to all accredited continuing education (CE) providers. REMS-compliant accredited CE activities must cover all portions of the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Opioid Analgesic REMS Education Blueprint for Healthcare Providers Involved in the Treatment and Monitoring of Patients with Pain.

As part of the 2019 CE Grant Cycle, an independent grant review committee will provide recommendations to the OA REMS companies (RPC) on the quality of grant applications submitted in response to the RFA. The accreditors that cofounded Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education—the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)—will constitute and facilitate the work of the independent grant review committee. The independent grant review committee will be comprised of members who:
  • Have relevant subject matter expertise;
  • Are not affiliated with the grant applications under consideration; and
  • Are not currently on the board or staff of the three accreditors.

The deadline to submit applications for the RFA is Friday, August 23. For questions, please contact the Grant Coordinator at grants@opioidanalgesicrems.com.

REMINDER: IPCE CREDIT AND STATEMENT

We encourage you to include the IPCE credit mark and statement with your IPCE activities that have been planned by and for the healthcare team, in addition to the Joint Accreditation statement.

“This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive (INSERT #) Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.”

The use of the IPCE credit mark and statement will serve to highlight the value of IPCE and communicate to your learners and other stakeholders that the activity is specifically designed to improve team collaboration and patient care. IPCE credit has been recognized by the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.

IPCE IN THE NEWS

"New CE Opportunities for Psychologists," published by the Monitor on Psychology, describes the expansion of Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education to include the American Psychological Association (APA) as a collaborating accreditor. “It’s a fabulous opportunity for us to break out of the silo that has kept us apart from mainstream health care and contribute to something larger than us,” says Greg Neimeyer, PhD, Director, American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology.
